- Scourge of the Galaxy – (Republic & Empire)
Community Checkpoint is back. The founder of this gaming community, Scourge, was gracious enough to take time and answer our questions. We will see that the Scourge of the Galaxy has been around several years and is present in various games. We will also learn what server this guild calls home in SWTOR and see what areas of gameplay they enjoy. First off, we will get to know their founder a bit more.
Time to find about the Scourge of the Galaxy after the Jump…
- Guild Q&A
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got into gaming?
I go by the name, Scourge. I’m 26 years of age, married and father of three. My schooling and leadership come from college and military experience. As far as my gaming, I got into gaming back in the early days of the Nintendo 64 from playing Zelda to Star Wars Galaxies when it first hit the shelves back in the old days.
How long has Scourge of the Galaxy existed? What server and faction are associated with the guild?
Scourge of the Galaxy has been around for many years. Originally we formed the guild while playing Star Wars Galaxies. In years following SWG, we migrated to various games. On Star Wars the Old Republic, we call the server Prophecy of the Five our home. We have guilds on both the Empire and Republic factions. Both guilds are still holding strong since launch.
The guild has a presence in both factions, does that make organizing events, Operations, etc. harder? What are the leaders that help to keep things running smooth in each faction’s guild?
No, it does not, each guild has a council to help organize events, operations and PVP. The councils are the true leaders of the guilds and I (the founder) am just here to help make sure things keep running smoothly.
Do either of the guilds, Scourge of the Republic and Scourge of the Empire, have a primary focus such as Operations or PVP? How do the guilds help the members achieve their goals in SWTOR?
We consider ourselves a jack of all trades type of guild and do a bit of everything however some members mainly focus on PVP.
Speaking of Operations, how have the guilds within the Scourge of the Galaxy gaming community fared in progression in SWTOR? What has been the biggest achievement and what has been the biggest challenge?
We have fared very well with all aspects of the game that SWTOR has to offer. We have seen and done it all. The biggest challenges I would have to say is adjusting to the new updates that effects all players.
The guilds are on the Prophecy of the Five PVP server, what is Scourge’s presence in SWTOR’s PVP outlets? How has Galactic Starfighter benefited or hindered PVP in the guilds?
Scourge has become a well known and well respected guild on the server. We’re considered one of the top PVP guilds for either faction on the server. Starfighter has not hindered this reputation in fact it has improved and we now have a wide range of ace pilots.
What do the guilds consider a foundation, if not essential to help Scourge of the Galaxy community to be successful? Is there a specific voice-program the guilds use for in-game communication?
Scourge considers Team Speak an effective and essential means of communication to organizing events and helping members in SWTOR. We do strongly employ our members to participate with the guild by using Team Speak.
What, if any, guild related tools you would like to see BioWare add to SWTOR? Are there any game play or Quality of Life items the guilds want to see added?
We’re looking forward to the upcoming guild starships as well as the personal player homes.
Are the guilds in Scourge of the Galaxy currently recruiting? If so, what is the best way for potential new recruits to contact the guild? Are there specific officers or leaders within each faction they need to contact for more information?
Yes, both guilds are welcoming new members; the best way to contact the guild is to simply either ask a member in game or visit our guilds Team Speak/website for more information. Any member of the guild can invite new members to the guild.
As far as recruiting, are there certain classes and/or roles the guilds need? If a player does not fit into that role or class can they still apply to the guilds?
Both guilds have a large number of members, but we are not currently looking for any specific classes at this time all are welcome to join.
Do the two faction parts of the guild ever have contests or events versus each other? Are there any events being planned for either guild?
Yes, we do host Guild War events between the factions of the guild.
Our next guild war event will take place in September. Each guild will meet at the same location and have an all out war in that area for about an hour.
Thanks to all the members of the Scourge of the Galaxy gaming community. I would also like to thank their founder, Scourge for all his time and help with making this article possible. If you are residing on the Prophecy of the Five server and currently looking for a guild, I would suggest checking out their website and contact a member of the Scourge of the Galaxy in-game about joining.
